4. Delivery Site Requirements

Shipping containers are large and heavy products. Customers must ensure that the proposed delivery location is accessible, suitable and prepared before the delivery vehicle arrives.

Clear Vehicle Access

The delivery vehicle must have sufficient space to enter the property, turn, reverse, unload and leave the site safely.

Firm and Level Ground

The container-placement area should be firm, stable and level to support the container and allow its doors to operate correctly.

Overhead Clearance

Customers must check for powerlines, trees, roofs, cables, gates and other overhead obstacles that could interfere with unloading.

Safe Placement Area

The final placement location must be identified and cleared of vehicles, equipment, materials and other obstructions.

Suitable Road Access

Roads, driveways, bridges, gates and access points must be suitable for the size and weight of the delivery vehicle.

Weather and Ground Conditions

Wet, soft, muddy, sandy or unstable ground may prevent the driver from safely entering or unloading at the property.

5. Customer Delivery Responsibilities

Customers must provide complete and accurate delivery information before the order is scheduled. This information enables us to select suitable transport and assess whether the delivery can be completed safely.

Customers must provide:

  • The complete delivery address and postcode.
  • The customer’s name, email address and telephone number.
  • The preferred delivery date where applicable.
  • Details of gates, access roads, turns, slopes and narrow areas.
  • Information about trees, powerlines and overhead obstacles.
  • Details about soft, wet, uneven or unstable ground.
  • The preferred direction of the container doors.
  • Any special unloading or positioning instructions.
  • Site photographs where requested.
  • Confirmation that the placement area is ready.

Customers are responsible for obtaining any property approvals, landlord permissions, council approvals or permits required for the placement and use of the shipping container.

6. Delivery Access Assessment

Steel Box Containers PTY LTD may request photographs, measurements, videos or other information about the proposed delivery site before scheduling delivery.

Any assessment based on photographs, measurements or information supplied by the customer is preliminary. The delivery driver retains final responsibility for deciding whether access and unloading can be completed safely when arriving at the location.

The driver may refuse to enter or unload at a location where doing so could create a risk to people, property, equipment, the container or the delivery vehicle.

7. Delivery Delays

Steel Box Containers PTY LTD aims to complete shipping and delivery within 5–7 days. However, delays may occur because of circumstances that affect transport scheduling or safe delivery.

Possible causes of delay include:

  • Severe weather or unsafe ground conditions.
  • Flooding, storms, bushfires or other emergencies.
  • Road closures, traffic disruption or transport restrictions.
  • Delivery-vehicle breakdowns or equipment problems.
  • Incorrect or incomplete customer information.
  • Restricted or unsafe site access.
  • Changes requested by the customer.
  • Events outside our reasonable control.

If a delay occurs, we will make reasonable efforts to inform the customer and arrange the earliest suitable alternative delivery date.

Nothing in this Shipping Policy limits any remedy or right available to a consumer under the Australian Consumer Law.

8. Failed Delivery and Re-Delivery

A delivery may be considered unsuccessful where the driver cannot safely access or unload at the delivery location.

A failed delivery may occur where:

  • The delivery address is incorrect or incomplete.
  • The customer is unavailable when attendance is required.
  • Access gates are locked or inaccessible.
  • The site is not prepared for delivery.
  • The ground is unsafe, unstable or unsuitable.
  • The access route is narrower than described.
  • Overhead obstacles prevent safe unloading.
  • Vehicles, equipment or materials obstruct the delivery area.
  • The customer requests an unapproved change in placement.

Where delivery fails because of customer-provided information, customer unavailability or unsuitable site conditions, the delivery may need to be rescheduled after the customer corrects the issue.

9. Inspection at Delivery

Customers should inspect the shipping container at the time of delivery where reasonably possible.

Any visible concern should be reported promptly to Steel Box Containers PTY LTD. The report should include:

  • The customer’s name and order information.
  • A written description of the concern.
  • Clear photographs or video showing the affected area.
  • The date on which the container was delivered.

Used shipping containers may display marks, scratches, fading, dents, previous repairs, surface corrosion, repainting and other cosmetic signs of previous use.

Cosmetic wear consistent with the advertised grade or condition of a used container is not necessarily a defect. This does not limit any rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

10. Container Positioning

The customer should identify the intended placement location and door direction before the delivery vehicle arrives.

Placement is subject to safe access, vehicle capability, unloading equipment and the driver’s assessment of the site.

Precise placement cannot be guaranteed where access, ground conditions, surrounding structures or safety requirements prevent the container from being positioned exactly as requested.

Once the container has been unloaded and the delivery vehicle has left the site, moving or repositioning the container requires a separate transport arrangement.

11. Risk, Ownership and Customer Responsibility

Risk in the shipping container passes to the customer after the container has been successfully delivered and unloaded at the agreed delivery location, subject to the Australian Consumer Law and the terms of the customer’s order.

Ownership of the container will not pass to the customer until all amounts payable for the container, shipping, delivery and any approved additional services have been paid in full.

After delivery, the customer is responsible for the container’s security, maintenance, insurance and lawful use.

The customer is also responsible for obtaining any approvals or permissions required for the placement, modification or use of the container.

12. Changes to Delivery Details

Customers must contact us as soon as possible when requesting a change to the delivery address, contact information, preferred delivery date, site instructions or container placement.

Changes requested after transport has been scheduled or after the container has been dispatched may not be possible and may require a new delivery date.

Requested changes remain subject to confirmation and may require the delivery to be rescheduled.

13. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this Shipping Policy excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

Products and delivery services supplied to eligible consumers come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

If we are unable to supply a paid product or delivery service within the agreed timeframe or within a reasonable time, the customer should contact us so that an appropriate solution can be considered in accordance with applicable law.

Statutory Rights

This Shipping Policy operates in addition to, and does not replace, rights and remedies provided by the Australian Consumer Law.
